Live Brisbane: Mt Coot-tha

Sunday afternoon, December 13 2009.



As mention before we are limited to what experiences we can undertake due to a work injury my has husband has incurred. So off to Mt Coot-tha, to get a completely different view of Brisbane city.



We arrive at Mt-Cootha a lookout area west of Brisbane about 12 klms from the city. We took a sit on bench below the lookout to watch the the city light up as night arrived.


Even though it was a hot day, there was a beautiful breeze, the sky was clear and the view of Brisbane and its surround is impressive.


For a small cit the change between day and night is quite illuminating and really worth enjoying if you can make the trip up the mountain. We drive up and I am not aware of any transport options, but I sure there is. If you are keen I have seen people walk up the mountain.


Next at Live Brisbane: A tour of my home city, nothing has been planned yet. We are first going to get through Christmas and the New Year before we attempt to battle the crowds and taken on the next challenge.

Live Brisbane: A challenge

With my husband's shoulder still giving him trouble we can not yet do a trip to Wet 'n' Wild. I thought we could take a look at Brisbane from different angle, this could only mean a drive up to Mt Coot-tha lookout.

Live Brisbane: Southbank

We decided to visit Southbank, have some lunch and roam around the markets. It was a hard ask as it is a swilting hot day with lots of storm clouds floating around in the sky and we would have rather locked ourselves in the house and turn the air conditioner on.

We made the effort and caught the train in from Eagle Junction station which was really quite easy, the train comes about every 12 minutes. While travelling in on the train it started to rain, rained for about 15minutes just enough to make it more humid when we got off at central station to change trains.

We sat down for lunch at San Marco Cafe, a little cafe at the north end of Southbank right on the boardwalk overlooking the river and Brisbane city.

After lunch my husband and I did stroll along the river the drops of rain were hardly even noticeable as it was so hot and humid. Walking under the tents at the markets was just to hot to be enjoyable. The Southbank would be considered to be craft markets and there is a lot of jewellery, clothing, paintings and leather materials. Some stuff is pretty pricey, but if you are looking for gifts or something hand made these markets would be a great place to shop.

The heat was draining and we walk a little more along the river and then across to Southbank train station to head back at about 3.30pm. We only spent about 3 1/2 hours in at Southbank but I think you could spend a lot longer looking around, swimming in the lagoon, walking along the boardwalk, swigging a cold beer, just soaking up the sun or relaxing in the grass under the shade of tree.

Live Brisbane: A challenge

With the hot weather now here, Wet'n'Wild Water Park seemed like the only option this weekend. Thanks to my husband who has hurt his shoulder at work, having fun has been cancelled. No that is not true we are going to take it a bit slower and visit Southbank. Sunday afternoon November, 29 we will stroll around Southbank and see what is on offer.
